The Tower of Americastower of americas

The Tower of Americas was built as the theme structure of the 1968 World's fair, Hemisfair '68, which was the first official world's fair (or international exposition) held in the southwestern United States. The tower was known as the tallest observation tower in the United States until 1996, when the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower was built. The Tower is 750 feet tall! There is a fee to go to the top of the tower. Here you can go onto the Observation Deck and get a 360 view of San Antonio. At the top of the tower is also a revolving Landry’s Restaurants. If your table is along the windows you notice that room revolves slowy 360 degrees, giving you an entire view of San Antonio! Pretty neat! If you seat however in the center of the room you won't notice that the room is revolving. Quite an awesome experience! Depending on the time of season you might want to make reservations in advance. Something more casual? Relax at their their Bar 601. There is also a Texas-themed 4-D, multi-sensory theater show ride located at the bottom of the tower. It's a cool Texas movie/ride that makes you feel like you are flying over Texas. The Tower of Americas is located 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way, San Antonio, Texas 78205. The phone number is 210.223.3101.
